According to the LPGA Foundation’s website:

The Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship is granted annually through The LPGA Foundation and the Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship Fund. Established in 2006, the objective of the Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship is to provide a need-based scholarship to a female high school senior from a recognized minority background who will be pursuing a full-time course of study and playing collegiate golf at an accredited college or university in the United States.

The Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship is a need-based award to a high school senior from a recognized minority background who will be playing golf at the collegiate level. Qualifications for all scholarships include strong academic programs, community service and recommendations. One $1,250 scholarship will be awarded in 2014.

Eligibility: Female high school student from a recognized minority background (African-American, Asian, Pacific Island, Native American, Native Alaskan, or Hispanic) who will be playing golf at the collegiate level. Must be a US citizen or legal resident, planning to attend college full-time, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate financial need. Applicant must have a background in golf and plan to play competitive golf at college.

The Entertainment Software Association Foundation established a scholarship program to assist women and minority students who are pursuing degrees leading to careers in Computer & Video Game Arts. In 2009 they extended this opportunity to graduating High School Seniors and doubled the number of awards granted from 15 to 30 (15 to graduating High School Seniors and 15 to current undergraduates).

Students majoring in the following or related fields: electrical, aerospace, systems or computer engineering, computer engineering technology, computer information systems, information systems management, computer science, physics, mathematics, or science or mathematics education. Majors directly related to the support of US intelligence or homeland security enterprises with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible.

Awarding scholarships in 3 categories: (1) The Designer/Creator Category (based on images of finished pieces that are designed and created by the student); (2) The Designer Category (based on designs by the student, includes CAD and drawings); and (3) The Non-Designer Category (essay based for those studying to be a Gemologist, appraiser, watch-maker, bench jeweler, or retailer).
