Each year, AAUW Port Townsend, through its philanthropic organization, the University Women‘s Foundation of East Jefferson County, has offered a tuition scholarship to a woman working to complete an undergraduate or graduate degree. This endowed scholarship is given in memory of writer, musician, and exceptional leader Elmira K. Beyer, a founding member of the University Women‘s Foundation.

Award Amount: Up to $9,000

Eligibility: Women who have completed at least one full year of college, has maintained residence in East Jefferson County, WA for at least the past 2 years, and is planning to seek  a degree from a 4-year college or university.

Award Amount: $2,000–$5,000 (Amount and number of awards varies); All-expenses-paid trip to Atlanta, Georgia, to attend Awards Luncheon

Eligibility: Non-traditional, women students whose education was delayed or interrupted. Women with a vision to succeed regardless of any obstacles that life has put in their way. Women who give back to their communities and whose goals and desires for education align with their passions. Preference is given to women who are pursuing their educational goals in Georgia. This may include women who are returning to school after a hiatus, changing careers, seeking advancement in their career or work life, and stay-at-home moms entering the workplace and in need of additional education and training. This scholarship is not intended for recent High School graduates. Applicants must be accepted into a program of study at an educational institution; must be at least 25 years of age by the deadline date. US citizen or Foreign Nationals who have a green card and plan to study in the US.

Requirements: Application, Essay, Proof of Acceptance or Enrollment or College Transcript, and 2 Letters of Recommendation.

Eligibility: Full-time, female Undergraduate or Graduate student.

Requirements: 2 Writing Samples (300-500 words), Proof of Enrollment, and Letter of Recommendation (Professor or Journalism/Media/Communications Professional). Required to attend the AWMF’s Gracie Awards Luncheon (student funds airfare and accommodations in New York City). Recipients will be required to produce 3-4 separate pieces of content for AWM between July 1 and November 1. One piece based on attendance at Gracie Awards Luncheon on June 26. The other 2-3 pieces of journalistic content for AWM’s website based on assigned topics or prompts.
