Black Excel Site Review

Scholarship Search Site Black ExcelBlack Excel

Don’t let the name of this website fool you into thinking it doesn’t apply to you unless you’re African American. It’s named after site founder, Isaac Black. Yes, there are links to scholarships for African Americans, but also for Latinas, Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, Pacific Islanders, Asians, veterans, and disabled, first-generation, and non-traditional students.

Scholarships by major, club or organization members, and employees of specific companies are included. Merit and need-based scholarships are listed too. Mixed in with the scholarship links are search engines, college search sites, and financial advice. You’ll need to scroll through this list and click directly on the links to learn more about eligibility requirements, deadlines, award amounts, and requirements. Be prepared to spend some time with this website of wonderful links.

Black Excel is possibly one of the simplest sites to navigate as everything is on one very long page with no navigation keys, tabs, or buttons. Scroll down the page (below the “Super Flash” heading). Locate the first link, “New! 500+ Scholarships.” (The number of scholarships changes annually. At the time of this writing, it’s 500+.) It will take you hours or even days to thoroughly explore all the relevant links to you. When you’re ready, scroll down the page, skipping the colorful ads, and check out links from previous years. You’ll find “Over 1,000 Scholarships for 2012,” and “200 Free Scholarships for Minorities” will still be helpful. You can continue scrolling down the page and selecting any links you find interesting or worth your time to explore.
